The characters weren’t given very much background content and the illustrations made up for the information that was lacking. It not only helped you understand the storyline but also the characteristics of the characters. I really liked the rhyming and rhythm of this book.
This story is about a Mama who comes home from work every night and takes care of her baby. She feeds him dinner, bathes him, snuggles, makes tea, etc. It's a cute story about a mother caring for her child. The drawing are beautifully illustrated.

It is a sweet story and shows no matter what a mother loves her baby. It's been a favorite of ours for years. In today's world of mother's who have careers, the time spent between a mother and her child when the mother returns home is especially valuable and this book recognizes that. This is an amazing children's book about working mothers and their children.
Make no mistake about it - this book is a very hard read. There are many, many trigger warnings involved with this book but the details are needed for the true scope of the story to be understood. Jenette details the narcissistic and abusive behavior of her mother as well as her obsession with making Jennette a star and spending every moment with her. There are far too many moments in her life where her mother overstepped her boundaries by a large measure. If you have experienced mental or physical trauma at the hands of another please be sure that you are prepared before you pick up this book. If you have dealt with any sort of eating disorder, this book may not be the best choice for you.
